Kings Canyon Digging Demonstration Around the campfire

  Why Choose Us?

  • Remote Tours is a small company, initially started by two brothers Reg and Chris Ramsden. We now have a small crew of carefully selected close friends working together to make Remote Tours happen.

  • Between them Directors Reg Ramsden and Scott O’Brien have over 30 years of guiding experience in the Territory. Having both worked for a variety of tour companies they have been able to adopt a style of guiding that incorporates all of the good points of their competitors and tries to avoid all those things that really irritate customers and guides. Their knowledge of the area is extensive, over the years they have experienced every situation imaginable. Having seen it all, there really isn’t much can that can shock them.

  • Over the years Reg in particular has built many close relationships with Aboriginal Elders from various communities in the Territory. One example is at the community close to the Kings Canyon Resort called Lilla. Remote Tours have recently been running school group tours in the red centre that incorporate students visiting Lilla and participating in community work that will hopefully assist the community in becoming economically sustainable. In return for their hard work the students get to learn traditional methods of gathering bush tucker, dot painting and jewellery making from the indigenous elders.

  • Remote Tours is an educational based, culturally aware tour company, with a strong emphasis on interaction with Aboriginal culture mingled with fun to ensure a trip you will never forget. By working closely with custodians of the land for many years, we have developed a unique, knowledgeable and sensitive approach to the country travelled and are proud to be able to claim a reputation that brings our patrons back for more, year after year. We are also proud to be chosen by the indigenous people of the land with our program of bringing city children to experience and reconnect with their mother-land.

  • Remote Tours believes every Australian child should visit the heart of Australia, visit Uluru, the sacred red rock and witness for themselves the real situation regarding Aboriginal communities. We find most students come here thinking indigenous people are going to be out hunting and dancing around, naked in the bush. Perceptions taught in schools are outdated. The next generation of Australian youth needs to see for themselves as they may be able to help.

  • Close relationship with a highly respected aboriginal artist means Remote Tours can provide her painting to schools these can be auctioned off and profits can go towards to school trip.

  • Everyone who works for Remote Tours has been a guide and we all know just how rushed tour itineraries are. Remote Tours have adopted a flexible and relaxed approach to touring, not just for the customers but also to look after our team. Customers can choose their own itinerary or Remote Tours will help you create one, leaving time to reflect, rest, explore places that other companies do not have the time to go.

  • Remote Tours is small enough to still look at the individual needs of our customers rather than as a mass group.
  • A lot of attention is given to food and providing quality meals. Remote Tours use a variety of recipes and source good quality products, as opposed to simply choosing economy brands to save money. Fresh fruit and Vegetables are purchased the day before tour and meat is sourced from local Alice butcher. A Steiner school were so impressed this year they decided to publish some Remote Tour recipes in the school newsletter.
